Delbert Barringer

Delbert Wesley Barringer, 95, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, April 5, 2026 at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls. He was born on April 28, 1930, in rural Rothsay, Minnesota, the son of Dighton Harding and Ethel Louise (Harvego) Barringer. He attended schools at rural School District No. 33 and 23 in Wilkin County, and received his high school diploma from Breckenridge High School.
In February of 1952, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving in the Medical Corps during the Korean War. After returning from military duty in February of 1954, he attended North Dakota State School of Science, now known as N.D.S.C.S., graduating in 1956 from the Sheet Metal Heating and Ventilation course. From 1956 to 1958, Delbert resided in Moorhead and in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and then moved to Minot, North Dakota where he met his wife.
On July 10, 1959, he married Marjorie Alberta Davidson in Beulah, North Dakota. After their marriage, the couple moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, where he was employed with Sears Roebuck. In 1975, they moved to Pelican Rapids. While living there, he was employed by Hanson Plumbing and Heating of Vergas. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1996, and he continued to work part-time at John's Heating and Air Conditioning in Fergus Falls.
Delbert was a faithful member of the Nazarene Church in Fergus Falls. He was also a member of the Otter Tail County Historical Society and a charter member of Fergus Falls Habitat for Humanity. His passion for volunteering included Habitat for Humanity, Ruby's Pantry, Lake Region Community Garden, and the Welcome House Thrift Store.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marjorie; sister and brother-in-law, Marie (Paul) Zach; brothers-in-law, Charlie Herman and Albin Sorum; nephews, Corey Zach and Scott Sorum, and niece, Susan Herman. Survivors include his three sons and one daughter, Barry Barringer of Fargo, North Dakota, LaVelle (Dean) Lundby of Fergus Falls, Neal Barringer of Fargo, North Dakota, and Ross (Bonnie) Barringer of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Michelle (Jon) Roller of Moorhead, Adam Barringer and Kaya Barringer both of Kansas City, Missouri. Also surviving are his sisters, Lucille Herman of Bismarck, North Dakota and Marian Sorum of Breckenridge, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Church of the Nazarene in Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Clay Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls. Arrangements are provided by Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls.
